Where in Saigon to watch Mayweather vs McGregor

The Money v the Mouth fight, the Undefeated fight or possibly more appropriately the HYPE fight! There has never been more discussion around a boxing fight than this Sunday’s (Saigon time) Floyd Mayweather vs Connor McGregor.

Arguably the best pound for pound boxer ever vs someone who isn’t technically even a boxer sounds odd doesn’t it but this superfight has turned into something else. McGregor has taken all before him in the UFC across weights and brings a considerable size and age advantage into this bout. Who will lose their first ever professional boxing match?

Regardless of the bizarre circumstances this is going to be the most watched fight in history and that is no different for Saigon. The biggest bars have varying offers on but you can bet they’ll all be busy. Plan carefully!

Here’s our guide on where to watch the big fight, choose carefully as you won’t be alone!

Phatty’s – District 1

Phatty’s doesn’t miss a beat on sports screening or service so definitely is one of the best bets for an event of this scale. They’re offering 2 San Miguel or Heineken Draught’s upon entry with a door charge of 200k vnd but there is also a full coverage happy hour deal on both beers. Expect a solid crowd and great atmosphere.

Just quietly… this is our favorite promo poster in town too!

Game On – District 1

The biggest venue in Saigon literally stopped traffic for the Mayweather v Pacquaio fight a few years back and will be pumping this Sunday morning too. 100,000vnd on the door includes a free coffee, soft drink or San Miguel Draught and limited tickets available means the same crush won’t be repeated but it’ll be packed and showing on Saigon’s biggest screens as they say, ‘Live and Loud’!

Guru Flagship (Le Lai) – District 1

Closer to the tourist/backpacker hub of Saigon Guru will see a mix of Vietnamese and tourist fans fill one of the biggest sports bar spaces in town. No cover charge will add to the pull but the venue is big enough to handle a few hundred punters so should handle the crowd.

The Dublin Gate – District 1

If your blood runs Green or you’re just looking to get behind the underdog this is the place. The Irish will be baying for their boy to overcome the odds and a fighter no other career boxer ever has pushed past. If he pulls it off the Dublin Gate will erupt!!! Also no cover charge so you’d want to be early!

Dtwo Sportspub – District 2

District 2’s leading Sports Pub and the home of Saigon’s best Sunday Roast (in our humble opinion) will be packed and although charging 200k on the door a breakfast and beer or Bloody Mary more than covers that cost.

Buddha Bar – District 2

For the cover charge averse Buddha Bar may be the best option for those on the other side of the river. Could get busy though so don’t be late!

Pitchers – District 7

Pitchers draws a crowd for all big events and this will be no different. Famous for great breakfasts and a great Sunday morning open air layout this could be your best bet if you’re looking to watch the fight in Saigon’s South.

Universal Bar – District 1

See if McGregor is stumbling as badly as the left over revelers in Saigon’s party Street Bui Vien at Universal Bar. Being a 24 hour venue Universal will show the coverage from 6am so plenty of build up.
