Little rest for decimated Pats against hungry Texans

It’s next man up for the undefeated New England Patriots, who are going through quarterbacks like zombies go through brains. With Tom Brady still serving out his suspension for Deflategate and backup Jimmy Garoppolo getting pancaked into a shoulder injury in a narrow win over the Miami Dolphins, the Pats now turn to third-stringer Jacoby Brissett as they take on the Houston Texans this Thursday. The favoured Pats, now 2-0, snuck past a less-talented Miami squad with a conservative offence after Brissett was thrust under center.
But Houston boasts J.J. Watt, who bowls over offensive lines with reckless abandon. The bull-necked Watt enjoyed a fumble recovery in a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, one of three the Texans were able to secure.
New England coach Bill Belichick will have to conjure up some coaching wizardry as he awaits Brady’s return not just against the Texans, but also the division rival Buffalo Bills next week. Skippering his squad with Brady at the helm is one thing; rallying the team for a regular-season win behind your third-string quarterback is quite another.
